Maple Class are our Year 3 and 4 children, we follow the National Curriculum. As we move into Key Stage 2 we build on the skills acquired in Key Stage1, learning to apply these across an increasingly sophisticated and varied curriculum.

Mr Helsby teaches us on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and Mrs Clarke teaches us on Thursday.

Mrs Scarrott, Miss Fisher, Mrs Banks and Mrs Thornhill are our amazing teaching assistants and Mrs Thornhill teaches us on Mondays from 9am until 10.40am while Mr Helsby does some planning!   At the moment, there is a teaching assistant in Maple Class everyday, morning and afternoon.

Online Learning

If you want to do some extra work with your child, please log in to DB Primary and Purple Mash.   You can access a wide range of brilliant activities and educational games.   Ask your child for their log in username and password.   If they have forgotten it then contact Mr. Helsby.

Homework Timetable for Maple

Monday - Reading - Comment in homework diary

Tuesday - Spelling - Learn all week (Attack and phonics groups may get spellings on a different day so check book bags)

Wednesday - Creative homework (NOT every week) OR Activelearn- Hand in following Monday

Thursday - Mental Maths - Hand in following Monday.

PLEASE NOTE that sometimes there is a homework club on Friday after school. If you think your child is prone to forgetting their homework, then maybe this club would be useful.

Homework is set to compliment the work at school so any support you give will be of benefit.   Try to listen to your child read as much as you can and enjoy quality time together getting involved in some creative learning!   We want to make children curious, enthusiastic and excited about learning.   Use the wonderful resources on DB Primary to help making learning a little more exciting, especially for spelling and maths.   You can log on to DB Primary from this page using the log in details given to your child.

This year, the government are introducing a times table test for year 4.   They will be tested on all times tables to 12x. Please help your child to learn their times tables at home and use some of the activities on Purple Mash.

*Attack homework might be set on a different day depending on what group they are in.   Please check with your child and look in their book bags.

Feel free to help your child with their homework but remember, if they are struggling and get upset, don’t worry!   Leave it and make a comment in the homework diary.
